Awesome Oscillator (AO) is an indicator very similar to MACD. Instead of using exponential moving average in MACD, AO indicator uses simple moving average of a median price of a short term period and a long term period. The signal is generated by the difference between two moving averages.
It is considered a good leading indicator because it takes difference of short term and long term prices in consideration.
When using AO, the changing color is considered as an advance signal of reversal while cross 0 line often being considered as acceleration in the existing trend.
